Authorities step in as debris block open space, free flow of water

A portion of an old house, which once played host to a hospital, has collapsed at Old market. The house was unoccupied since no one was staying in the old house.
The debris, however, was found strewn all over the place, blocking the open space and free flow of water.
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai, who visited the site along with Salcete Mamlatdar Prataprao Gaonkar, has told the disaster management officials to clear the debris and make way for the flow of water.
The Salcete mamlatdar informed the MLA that he would issue notice to the house owner since the structure poses danger to lives and property in the area.
Meanwhile, the Fatorda MLA informed that the builder who had built the buildings at Pajifond which witnessed a landslide on Saturday, has agreed to build a retaining wall.
Sardesai along with officials inspected the site of the landslide and told the disaster management officials to take all precautions.
