Stating that WiFi facilities will be provided in various parts of Porvorim constituency, IT Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte said computer training will also be provided to women and senior citizens to make Porvorim the first constituency of Goa undergoing digitisation.
Speaking after inaugurating the Nana-Nani-Natwanche Park in an area of 8,000 sq. mtrs at Krantinagar-Porvorim in the presence of Urban Development Minister Milind Naik, Khaunte also said an IT unit will be set up in the open space of 3 acres opposite the District Institute of Education and Training centre.
Defending the IT parks proposed at Chimbel and Tuem, Khaunte said a lot of job opportunities would be created for the youth.
Commenting on the Nana-Nani-Natwanche Park, Khaunte said he had fulfilled an assurance to residents of Porvorim during elections.
“Several additional facilities such as Go-Kart and Segway will shortly be added in this park for the benefit of the children. Maintenance of this park will be done by the senior citizens association. Kiosks erected in this park will be given on rental basis to sell food products and income will be utilized to maintain the park,” said Khaunte.
Khaunte informed that the Science Park near Maharashtra Bank in Porvorim would be inaugurated on January 26.
Urban Development Minister Milind Naik said two more gardens, one each at Brittona and Socorro, will be developed by Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA).
Penha-de-Franca Sarpanch Swapnil Chodankar, Dy Sarpanch Manisha Naik, Director of Urban Development R Maneka and Zilla Panchayat member Gupesh Naik also spoke on the occasion.
The Nana-Nani-Natwanche Park is a unique park in the area designed to cater to the needs of senior citizens and their grandchildren.
Various facilities have been installed in this park such as a jogging track, canteen, place for yoga, badminton court, library, basketball court, a stage for cultural programmes, tennis court, gym equipments for senior citizen, amenities for children. Besides, four kiosks have also created to provide multiple facilities at one place.
