OLD GOA
The main road from Merces to Chimbel is ridden with potholes and is proving to be a threat to the life of road users.
A local from Chimbel Ajay Kholkar, who travels regularly along this route, informed The Goan that the road was dug for laying underground power cables six months back.
“It’s been six months since the work on the underground power cabling is going on. The road was dug but the potholes were not patched up when they had the opportunity to do so during the months of April-May.
“Now, they have taken some measures like filling the potholes with rubbles but due to the rains they are getting washed away and the potholes are getting bigger.
“For those who are travelling on two-wheelers it is creating a big problem, particularly for women who ride pillion,” Kholkar informed.
He further stated that such potholed roads violate the right to life as it puts the lives of people in danger.
“I am wondering whether the authorities are waiting for death to take place before taking action. I am requesting the authorities to take remedial action before any untoward incident occurs,” Kholkar appealed.
