PANAJI
Police on Saturday arrested two persons on charges of providing fake identity cards and residing in a starred hotel on the outskirts of Panaji, where the rebel MLAs of Shiv Sena were staying for three days.
Sonia Dohan (30) and Shrey Kothiyal (26) were arrested by Panaji police after it was found out that the identity proof they had produced in the hotel was fake.
Primary investigation has revealed that both are leaders of another party and police are further verifying the antecedents of the accused. Police are also trying to find out the purpose of their visit in the backdrop of the rebel Shiv Sena MLAs also staying in the same hotel.
The rebel Shiv Sena MLAs headed by their leader and now Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had arrived in Goa through a special flight on June 30 and were staying in the same hotel for the last three days till they left the State on Saturday.
Police had placed tight security at the hotel during the stay of these MLAs, given that they were part of an important political change in Maharashtra.
