Prateek Rebello has set a new record for Goa by securing 84 percent in the IIT-JEE (Advanced) exam and securing an all India rank of 77, also a first for the state.
Rebello, a student of the Mustifund Aryaan High School has also topped in the GCET and BITSAT entrance exams. Speaking to media persons, the high school’s principal Venkatesh Prabhudesai praised Rebello for his achievements.
“Prateek Rebello has broken records and has stood first for all the entrance exams. He has come 77th in the IIT Advance, which is a record in itself. He has also brought laurels to our school and we look forward to his future with the training given at the school,” he said. For the Advance exam, Rebello scored 308 standing at the 77th rank. Aditya Kuncolienkar scored 252 and a rank of 1517, Ameya Kulkarni scored 251 and a rank of 1610 and Atharva Dinkar scored 230 and a rank of 3207.
Fifty-nine students were eligible to answer the Advance after clearing the JEE (Main) exam but of these, 37 appeared for the advance entrance exam. The rest had opted for a medical degree.
He also secured a phenomenal 426 marks for the BITSAT exam, the entrance exam to BITS. The 426 score under BITSAT is also a first for Goa. The earlier record was of 423 marks. “This score means he can chose any branch of specialization in any BITS campus anywhere. Among the other students that answered BITSAT, 19 have the opportunity to secure a seat in BITS Goa or in Hyderabad,” said Prabhudesai.
In addition, Rebello also topped the Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET) with an overall score of 144, an All India first rank for Manipal University’s entrance exams
and a seventh rank for the AIEEE.
“I would like to thank my teachers. If I were in any other school, I don’t think I would have been able to get this score. This school prepares you. My parents have also supported me and never put restrictions on me and allowed me to do what I want to do. All my batch mates have worked together and there was never competition but have supported each other,” said Rebello.
