For theatre enthusiasts, this one promises to be an interesting outing.
Hosted by actor and theatre director Arundhati Chattopadhyaya, is a multi-media production called
'Claiming Spaces', which will be performed at the Sunaparanta - Goa Centre for the Arts today evening.
The story of 'Claiming Spaces' is in itself an interesting one. Arundhati, who is the eyes and ears of the production, describes it as a court-room drama which has evolved from yet another workshop called 'Power and Resistance', where participants had to write, perform and work with ‘assemblage as an art form’.
But ‘Claiming Spaces’ according to her, is neither a drama, nor does it have a storyline. It is just a unique creation by the participants of the workshop. The performance is based on the non-linear format. An act will be performed merely based on the write-ups which were composed by the participants after a workshop.
For those unfamiliar with Sunaparanta, it is a centre for the arts, housed in a beautifully restored Goan villa located at the Altinho hilltop in Panaji. Drop in a little early to have a snack at the al café at the centre, which also has a wonderfully selection of fresh savouries, salads and pastries.
