Prog on vectors held at Valpoi
VALPOI: Phoenix women’s wing self help group (PWSHG) in collaboration with Community Health Centre (CHC) Valpoi organised an advocacy workshop on vector-borne diseases control programme at CHC hall, Valpoi.
The workshop was organised for the members of self help groups from Valpoi.
CHC health officer Dr Surekha Parulekar discussed the challenges faced by CHC Valpoi in tackling vector-borne diseases like malaria, dengue, chikungunya, etc.
Dr Shyam Kankonkar informed that mosquito breeding is rampant in irrigation chambers, construction sites, plantations (kulagars) and coconut shells. He asked the women to inspect kulagars and to check their surroundings routinely to prevent mosquito breeding.
Valpoi Municipal Councillor Parveen Shaikh inaugurated the workshop, while Councillor Sayed Sarfaraz, Dr Shankesh Fadte, CDS chairman Abdulla Khan, Aruna Rane, Jamila Shaikh and PWWSHG president Suneza Khan also spoke.
