3 accused held; 3 victims sent to protective home

According to DySP Sunita Sawant, police received information about the flesh trade being run in the flat and decided to raid the place.
The accused have been identified as Amrish Ashok Khandeparkar, (42), his wife, Rani (40) and Daya Jay Radhiya Patel (30), a native of Gujarat and presently staying in Shantinagar-Ponda.
Asked if the victims are major in age, DySP Sawant replied: “A victim from Mumbai is suspected to be a minor. We are doing an ossification test to check her age,” she said.
“The other two victims are from Goa and Uttar Pradesh. Both are major in age and are involved in the flesh trade,” said DySP Sawant.
According to Sawant, the flat linked to the illicit trade has also been sealed.
According to sources, police were tracking the movements of the accused persons before raiding the place.
“On Thursday morning, the main accused had brought the victim from Mumbai for flesh trade. They were inviting customers to the flat and were allowing them to choose the victim. They were also providing them a room in the flat,” the source said.
Police has registered the offence under Sections 370-A (2) (human trafficking) of Indian Penal Code and Sec 3,4,5,6 and 7 of Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act. The three victims have been sent to a protective home.
