Protest over decision to stop online classes

MARGAO

A group of parents of an unaided private school held a silent protest on the road, meters away from the school premises, protesting over the management’s decision to stop online classes for the students over the non-payment of fees.

The parents pointed out that they are all ready and willing to pay the fees, provided the management pays heed to their request to reduce 20 per cent of the tuition fees and do away with the development fees in times of the pandemic.

Around 50-60 parents took to the road to protest over the sudden decision of the school management to stop online classes for non-payment of fees. They also claimed that the school has been using the police to suppress the parents from raising their voices against the tuition fees.

“How can the school suddenly stop the online classes of our children? We have never said will not pay the fees, but we want 20 per cent reduction in the tuition fees and doing away with the development fees this year,” Ramiro Mascarenhas said, while demanding to know what sort of development the school intends to do during the pandemic when all developments by the central and state governments have come to a halt.
