After the gram sabha chaired by deputy sarpanch Flavia D’Costa passed the budget estimates for the financial year 2017-18 after making some changes, gram sabha members deliberated on the double tracking of the existing railway line. The protest will kick-off from the school playground in the morning and wend its way through the village before culminating at the railway station.
Members also expressed their reservations over the state highway passing through the village, with some members demanding the de-notification of the state highway.
People led by outgoing sarpanch Sonia Fernandes expressed their reservations to a mobile tower proposed in her ward. While officials of a cellular company had come for the meeting to make a presentation, Sonia said that the presentation can be made only at a special gram sabha. TGN
