Quepem resident files papers for   South Goa LS seat as independent

Alexy Fernandes, a resident of Quepem filing his nomination papers for the South Goa seat as an Independent.

A 49 year old black belt in karate, haling from Amona-Quepem, Alexy Fernandes has filed his papers for the South Goa Lok sabha constituency as an Independent candidate.

A black belt in Karate, this is the second time that Alexy is contesting the Lok Sabha polls from South Goa. The last time he had contested the South Goa Lok Sabha seat was 20 years ago in 2004.

Alexy had also contested the Assembly polls from Curchorem in 2007 and from Quepem in the 2022 Assembly polls on the Shiv Sena banner. Claiming that he is the South district president of the Shiv Sena, Alexy said he has decided to enter the electoral fray with the backing of his friends and well wishers.

He filed his papers before the South Goa Returning Officer Asvin Chandru on Wednesday. In his affidavit, Alexy has claimed there are no pending criminal cases against him and neither is he convicted of any criminal offense.

His total moveable assets is pegged around Rs 35 lakhs and that of his wife Rs 10 lakhs.
