Questions raised over Goa BJP leaders’ overt role in K’taka polls

PANAJI

The overt outreach of Goa ministers and leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on polling day in neighbouring Karnataka has raised a stink with top Congress leaders raising objections and alleging electoral malpractices in ferrying voters temporarily employed in Goa.

The Congress’ national spokesperson, Pawan Khera began the tirade late on Tuesday night uploading a video of a Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) bus plying in a locality in North Karnataka on micro-blogging site Twitter.

“Why is Goa BJP government sending people from Goa by Kadamba Transport Corporation buses to Northern Karnataka tonight? Last week too for PM’s rally, people were ferried in over a 100 buses from Goa,” Khera said in the tweet.

Quoting Khera’s tweet, Congress MP Randeep Singh Surjewala, who is one of the chief campaign managers of the party for Karnataka polls, tagged DGP Karnataka and questioned whether illicit money was being transported in the bus.

“What’s happening at Whistling Woods Jungle Resort at Dandeli, Uttar Kannada District, Karnataka?,” Surjewala questioned in his tweet.

Surjewala also raised questions if a minister from Goa had booked rooms at the Dandeli resort.

“What’s the purpose? Will ECI act?,” Surjewala asked.
