White water rafting set
to take off on Mhadei

With the monsoons now well set in and Goa’s rivers in full flow, Goa Tourism is set to begin its fourth edition of white-water rafting from June 24 on the river Mhadei in Sattari.
GTDC Chairman Nilesh Cabral said, “This thrilling water sports activity has had tremendous response over the last four years. We welcome all tourists, especially the youth, to experience this exciting sport, which is conducted as per internationally accepted norms. We have introduced this adventure activity to promote hinterland and eco-tourism.”
The river rafting will be available till October 2015, subject to availability of rapids and adequate water currents, and suitable weather conditions. There will be two trips beginning at 10.30 am and 2.30 pm every day. The programme is open to both adults and children above 10 years.
The rafting will commence from Ustem village and end at Sonal village in Sattari taluka covering a distance of approx ten kilometers in 90 minutes. Guests will have to report 30 minutes before departure for briefing and other procedures.
GTDC has also introduced a daily taxi service to and from Panaji to Sattari to facilitate movement of tourists to the site at additional cost.

Sao Joao on Santa Monica
GTDC will organize Sao Joao festival on Santa Monica cruise boat near Panjim jetty on June 24, the day of the feast dedicated to St John the Baptist.
Tourists will be welcomed with crowns made of leaves called ‘kopel’. The occasion will be marked by cultural programmes such as live Goan song and dance performances, along with traditional Goan cuisine.
The cruise vessel will set sail at 10 am. Entertainment programmes like puppet acts, lemon dance, umbrella dance, bamboo dance, laughter contest, float parade, coconut breaking contest and saree draping contest will keep the revellers entertained.
