Railway authorities have appealed to people to avoid using the railway overbridge connecting Vasco and Driver’s Hill while repair work is underway.
Railways officials said any use of the railway overbridge by people could be extremely dangerous as several stretches of the overbridge do not have a base and people could have a fatal fall while attempting to use the bridge.
The video of a girl attempting to use the railway overbridge by risking her life and walking precariously by using the side rails of the bridge surfaced on social media on Friday evening.
The video, which went viral on social media, was apparently filmed by a worker on duty while the girl was crossing the overbridge during repairs.
“The video is shocking, because the person is risking her life. The video shows her struggling and keeping balance while crossing the bridge. The girl is also seen placing her steps carefully on thin iron rods amidst stretches that have no base at all. It was looking like a reality stunt show on TV,” said a railway official.
“The girl could have easily fallen down and there could be a tragedy. Despite several requests, people don’t listen and still attempt to use the overbridge. This attempt can be dangerous.’
“Our staff have safety gear to save them from the fall but people have nothing. People just don’t listen to us and if anything goes wrong, they will blame railway authorities and this should not be allowed. We request the people not to use this bridge while the works are being taken,” appealed the official.
