Officials of the Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd returned home without carrying out survey of the railway property at Nessai after Sao Jose de Areal scuttled the exercise after the officials did not come equipped with survey plans of the acquired land. RVNL officials led by M N Naik along with a surveyor and Junior engineer had gone to Sao Jose de Areal to survey the railway property following the repeated stoppage of double tracking project work in the village.
Agitated villagers, refused to allow the officials to carry out the exercise since they did not come with a proper survey map and plan signed by the survey department. A local villager Freddy Travasso told the media that the railway authorities had repeatedly failed to produce the genuine survey plan, indicating that the land in question was indeed acquired by the Railways.
“How can we believe in a survey plan without any signatures from any department”, Freddy asked, adding that the villagers had been only requesting the railway officials to produce the duly signed survey plan.
He warned that the villagers will not allow the railway officials to start work on the double tracking project till the survey plan signed by the survey authorities is submitted in the village panchayat.
The railway officials told The Goan that they have taken a decision on Thursday evening to apply to the Inspectorate of Land Survey to submit the survey plan of the property, right from Sao Jose de Areal to Chandor village. Sources said railways will have to ask for more than 100 survey plans given that the railway line is passing through various survey numbers all along the railway line from Areal to Chandor”, the official told The Goan, saying the exercise of obtaining the survey plans will consume a lot of time.
