When asked to comment on the storming initiated by Rohan Khaunte and Vijai Sardesai, Rane said: “What option do they have.”

“The answers that are being given by the government are very vague. What do you expect,” Rane said after some prodding.

Digambar Kamat too who himself had not joined the first stage of storming of the Assembly said he was peeved at the move of the government to give the beach cleaning contract to outsiders for a much higher value as well as through attempting to initiate mechanisation knowing very well it was not possible.

“When we had done it, it was barely two Rs crore. And some locals had got it. Why did they even put mechanisation in the tender,” Kamat asked.

When asked why he didn’t join the others in the Well of the House earlier, Kamat said he was awaiting a reply from the Chief Minister.

Both Kamat and Rane speaking later urged the ruling Benches to give proper replies when asked for.

Kamat asked the speaker to hold a meeting of both the Opposition and the ruling Benches to sort out the matter.

Khaunte and Sardesai both stuck to their guns demanding that there be a judicial inquiry into the beach cleaning scam.
