MARGAO
The Ravindra Bhavan, Margao was at the centre of a controversy on Friday after the management of the cultural institution revoked the permission for a youth function of the Revolutionary Goans Party, drawing sharp reaction from the RG supremo Manoj Parab.
Newly-appointed Ravindra Bhavan Chairman, Rajendra Talak, however, strongly defended the decision to revoke the permission given for the programme, saying the RB premises cannot be made available for political parties.
Permission for the youth function was obtained by Ashlon Rodrigues at the Black Box of Ravindra Bhavan between 2.30 pm to 6.30 pm. Talak informed that the RB management decided to revoke the permission issued to Rodrigues after it became apparent that the permission was obtained to hold the youth wing function of the Revolutionary Goans party.
“The Ravindra Bhavan, Margao has never been allotted to a political party to host a party programme. When we came to know that the permission for today’s youth function was obtained for the Revolutionary Goans party, our officials got the permission revoked,” Talak said.
Revolutionary Goans party supremo Manoj Parab, however, slammed the BJP government for revoking the permission at the last minute.
