Real Goa lies in art and culture: Sawaikar

South Goa MP Adv Narendra Sawaikar on Sunday said ‘real' Goa lies at places where things by which Goa is being blessed, folkart and music is preserved.
"Domestic and foreign tourists flock to the beaches of Goa to welcome the New Year. I wonder whether real Goa lies there or here (village of Veling) where our music and art is resurrected," he added.
Sawaikar praised Minister Gaude saying he is the right person to handle art and culture department. "Our Minister Govind Gaude is himself an artiste and he is the right person to handle this portfolio," Sawaikar said.
‘Rangmell 2017', a festival of folkart by Rangmell organisation from Veling was inaugurated by Minister for Art and Culture Govind Gaude. Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar, vice-chairman of Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir Ajeet Kerkar and others were present on the occasion.
Speaking further, Sawaikar said Goa is being blessed with fertile land, art, music and so many good things. "Our identity reflects in all these things, which is preserved by artistes. Let us preserve this identity and pass on to our next generation," Sawaikar said.
Minister Gaude said: "Time is very important in life and we should know its management to achieve success. It's a proud feeling that our art and culture is being preserved by many organisations working in this field. I extend all the support to them."
Pramod Shenvi Priolkar (music), Vijaykumar Kamat (drama) and Sakharam Jalmi (Bhajan) were felicitated on the occasion.
Vinay Tendulkar praised the work of Rangmell in the field of folkart.
Kanta Gaude welcomed the gathering and Subhash Jan compered the programme.

In 2017 we have been as much of lemmings... you know lemmings, (a species of rodent unfairly infamous for) rushing towards their own death, they all run blindly and then they all die falling down the cliff.
