Goa witnessed its highest single-day Covid death toll of 71. Of these 71 deaths, 46 deaths occurred at Goa Medical College and Hospital, 20 at South Goa District Hospital, two at North Goa District Hospital and one each at Community Health Centre Curchorem, Hospicio and Sub-District Hospital Chicalim.
One of the deaths occurred at GMC on April 28 and was reported only on Wednesday.
The load of active Covid cases has now reached 27,964.
Goa’s Health Department detected 3,496 new cases from among the 6,769 samples tested in the last 24 hours. The daily positivity rate was 51.64 per cent, the highest recorded in the state so far.
It may be recalled that on April 28, the daily positivity rate of Goa stood at 51.08 per cent, the first time that the figure had crossed the 50 per cent mark.
