MARGAO
Congress MLA Reginaldo Lourenco on Tuesday urged the authorities concerned to start quarantine and ICU facility at the South Goa district hospital on a war footing for controlling the spread of coronavirus and prevent a disaster.
In a letter to the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, Reginaldo pointed out that with limited infrastructure and inadequate resources, neither the Hospicio hospital, Margao, nor the recently set up ten-bed isolation ward at TB Hospital would be able to cater to the immediate health requirement of treating the increasing number of patients afflicted with Coronavirus in the district of South Goa.
“In view of the burning health issue, I kindly request the authorities to start quarantine and ICU facility in new South Goa district hospital on a war footing for controlling the spread of the virus and prevent a disastrous situation and avoid panic in GMC,” he added.
Saying that the number of persons in home quarantine in Goa have increased from 65 to 92, the Congress MLA said in the interest of public health, there’s an urgent need to set in place both Quarantine Facility and ICU at new South Goa District Hospital.
