In the line of fire over their operations disturbing local communities and a number of fire incidents reported periodically, the All Goa Recycling Dealers Association (AGRDA) has asked the State government to regulate their business.
On Monday the association said the State government should take measures to streamline their operations at scrapyards across Goa.
It said, the government should register their scrapyards either under the Goa State Pollution Control Board or the Goa Waste Management Corporation.
They also suggested that the government consider taking forward the registration process initiated back in 2010 wherein scrapyards were asked to register under a Goa Waste Recycling scheme.
They claimed it was notified then and they had been called to apply on the basis of which regularization of 382 scrapyards across Goa was under the government’s consideration.
