Report sought in Margao Sunday incident

Margo Sub-divisional Police Officer DySP Dinraj Govekar has sought a detailed report on the incident involving a traffic head constable and a lady two-wheeler rider near Sincro hotel at Fatorda late Sunday evening.

DySP Govekar told the media that action, if any, will be initiated only after he receives a report from the Margao police station in-charge, PI C L Patil, who is inquiring into the incident that triggered tension in the area. “I am unaware of the factual situation. Margao PI has been told to submit a report,” DySP Govekar said.

The DySP made the comment after he was informed by the media that a police sub-inspector, who was on duty at the Margao police station, was asking the lady rider to leave her bike at the police station on grounds that the police have registered an accident case.

Citizens, who had accompanied the rider, however, had questioned the PSI, demanding to know how she would travel home to Curtorim without the bike.
