The INDI Alliance candidate for North Goa Lok Sabha seat Adv Ramakant Khalap has assured that his top priority after getting elected would be to resolve the vexed Bhoma highway expansion issue.

Speaking at a meeting at Bhoma, on Sunday, Khalap assured the Bhomkars that after getting elected as MP he would ensure resolution to the Bhoma highway issue.

“I maybe part of the ruling government or not, I will raise the Bhoma issue with the government so that there is resolution to the same,” Khalap assured.

Khalap also laid claim that he was the one who was the first to introduce the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament.

“It was on September 12, 1996 that I introduced the Bill which has now been introduced by PM Modi,” Khalap said.

Speaking on the occasion, Goa Forward president and MLA Vijai Sardesai slammed the government for their plans to build a flyover over the temple of the local deity.

“This Hindutva BJP wants to keep the God under the flyover even though there is an option of a bypass. This shows their real Hindutva,” Sardesai stated.

“The Bhoma issue will be resolved only if you send Adv Khalap to the Parliament,” he further added and stated that he had convinced Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari for a bypass but the same got sidelined due to interference from some local BJP leaders.

Sardesai then warned the Bhomkars that they are taken for granted by the BJP as they think that come what may the Hindus will vote for them.

“The Bhomkars need to change that thought process and teach the BJP a lesson in the upcoming LS polls if you want to be taken seriously,” Sardesai informed.

Aldona MLA Adv Carlos Ferreira slammed the BJP government for not listening to the pleas of Bhomkars when there is an alternative to the highway expansion issue.

“There is an alternative to the issue but the government does not want to listen. Such government should be sent home,” Ferreira said.

He further stated that it is also high time that MP Shripad Naik is sent home as he has done nothing noteworthy in 25 years as MP. “What has Naik done in his 25 years tenure as MP?” Ferreira questioned and urged the people to vote for Adv Ramakant Khalap to be their voice in the Parliament.

Rajan Ghate, Adv Surel Tilve, Ramkrishna Jalmi, Sanjay Naik and others also spoke on the occasion.
