A retaining wall collapsed on the NH66 bypass at Naibag-Poraskade in Pernem taluka due to heavy rains, causing both lanes to be blocked.
No untoward incident occurred as the road was closed a few days ago, on account of another landslide. Currently, this bypass is completely closed to all traffic due to landslides and traffic is being routed along the old highway between Malpe and Naibag.
Since this old route has a lot of twists and turns, making it difficult for motorists, the government decided to construct a bypass. However, there have been a number of landslides along the bypass, forcing authorities to temporarily close the bypass.
