Work on the long-pending retaining wall at Mangor Hill was finally launched on Tuesday morning.
Speaking to reporters after launching the work, Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar said that work to cover the Nullah would also begin in the next six months.
"This was a long-pending demand of the people who faced a lot of inconveniences because mud from the hillock would flow downwards and most of the time, fall in the Nullah below and choke it,” said Salkar.
“The retaining wall of 56 metres in length is being taken under the WRD and we are also working on the road next to the Nullah. We have already put a proposal to the WRD to cover the Nullah and estimates have been prepared. This work to cover the Nullah will begin in six months. There are many more issues in this ward and we will address those issues,” Salkar added.
