Rider dies in mishap at Verem

MAPUSA:

A 41-year-old rider from Pune but residing at Anjuna on Tuesday night succumbed to injuries he had sustained in a road mishap at Verem on Monday.

According to reports, John D'Souza was proceeding on a two-wheeler from Verem to Reis Magos fort, when his two-wheeler struck a cycle on Monday.

He sustained severe injuries and was shifted to the GMC hospital at Bambolim, where he passed away on Tuesday evening while undergoing treatment.

Porvorim PSI Sachin Shirodkar and ASI Sanjeev Salunke conducted the panchanama and are investigating the case.

Std 5 boy feared drowned in creek at Usgao

PANAJI:A boy studying in Standard 5 was feared drowned in a creek near Sainagar in Tisk-Usgao on Wednesday evening.The incident is reported to have taken place as the boy was returning home from tuitions along with some other children.The boy got caught in the creek which was overflowing due to heavy rains. The fire and emergency service personnel from Ponda have launched a search and rescue operation.
