CANACONA
A motorcyclist had a lucky escape when a large cashew tree collapsed along the Agonda-Canacona Road at Dumane on Monday evening. The motorcycle, however, sustained minor damages in the incident, which also led to disruption of traffic for about an hour.
According to reports, the motorcyclist was travelling from Canacona towards Agonda and on reaching the Dumane slope, noticed a large cashew tree getting uprooted and falling on the road.
The rider slammed the breaks to narrowly escape getting hit by the collapsing tree, but the motorcycle was partially damaged in the incident.
Teams from the fire services and police later went to the site and removed the damaged two-wheeler, before cutting the tree into pieces and clearing it from the road.
The traffic to and from Agonda was disrupted for about an hour and a police team led by PSI Damodar Shirodkar regulated traffic, before the uprooted tree was cleared from the road.
