After facing much criticism over the potholes issue in the city, the Corporation of City of Panaji has started some temporary repair of potholes.
The municipality workers were seen on Saturday evening and Sunday putting tar on the potholes in some city roads.
Earlier on Saturday, CCP Mayor Vithal Chopdekar along with the ruling councillors threatened to go on a hunger strike if all the potholes in the capital city are not filled within 48 hours. The deadline ends on the afternoon of September 3.
The ruling panel alleged that the Commissioner of the Corporation of the City of Panaji Ajit Roy was not cooperating with the elected body and has completely failed to raise tenders for repair of roads.
The panel also demanded immediate replacement of the commissioner with a ‘local’.
Mayor Chopdekar has alleged that the Commissioner was working against the interest of the city residents and alleged that the commissioner was delaying several files pertaining to civic issues which have resulted in the chaotic situation in the city.
