RP21 committee reconstituted

The state government has reconstituted the State Level Committee formed to undertake a rectification of the Regional Plan, with Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar making way for Deputy Chief Minister and Town and Country Planning Minister Francis D Souza as chairman of the committee.

 The decision, coming as it does close on the heels of a revolt of sorts by the Deputy Chief Minister, is significant. The order, issued by Chief Town Planner S T Putturaju on Monday, retains the rest of the members of the committee. Besides D Souza as chairman, other members include the Principal Secretary (TCP), Director of Municipal Administration, Director of Panchayats, Senior Town Planner Rajesh Naik, Member Secretary of the North Goa PDA R K Pandita, Head of Architectural Engineering Department of the Government Polytechnic at Panaji, Paresh Gaitonde, a member of the Institute of Engineers/Valuers and Manguesh Prabhugaonkar the Chairman of the Institute of Architects. The Chief Town planner will be the Member Secretary of the SLC. The role of the committee will be to oversee the process of rectification, prepare the criteria for processing comments and rectifications received besides issue order and constitute regional sub-committees if necessary.
