Wholesale fish traders have urged the Fatorda police to rein in on the miscreants involved in stealing their plastic fish crates, amounting to around Rs 12 lakh.
The fish traders told the media outside the Fatorda police station that they are not ready for any settlement with the scrap dealers involved in purchasing the fish crates to convert them into powder.
Saying that around 1,500 fish crates have been stolen from the wholesale fish market by miscreants and later sold to the scrapyard, the traders demanded that the police should get the miscreants to return their money.
Fish trader Imam said a scrapyard dealer, who was reportedly involved in purchasing the fish crates from the miscreants, was ready for a settlement.
“But, we are not ready for any settlement. Where is the question for a settlement when the issue is of theft”, Imam said.
