People living in fear of landslides at Bogda have now breathed a sigh of relief after a Rs 3 crore project consisting of a retaining wall and rock bouldering was launched at Wards 5 and 6 in Sada.
Speaking to reporters after launching the project, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar said the project was being taken up through the GSUDA.
“We have seen that several houses in the area annually get notices of evacuation claiming that there is a danger of landslide and the people always live in fear. I was keen to ensure that we build a strong retaining wall in this area as a measure against landslides.”
“The work will be taken up across various areas of Wards 5 and 6, where in we will take rock bouldering and a retaining wall through a contractor of GSUDA. This work will start immediately and will be completed in quick time.”
“We have also appointed local residents to supervise the work undertaken by the contractor,” said Amonkar.
