Kerala sleuths descend on Goa to make the arrest after tip off by another accused

Speaking to The Goan, Divisional Deputy Commissioner (Excise) of Ernakulam Division M K Narayanan Kutty told The Goan, that they were tipped off about the Kalangutkar’s involvement after the arrest of one Saneesh Sarvothaman whom they had arrested with an assortment of drugs including, cocaine, MDMA and charas.
“We were informed about Kalangutkar’s involvement by Saneesh and it was Kalangutkar who walked into the trap,” Narayanan Kutty told The Goan.
The trap was conducted by Divisional Assistant Excise Commissioner Benny Francis, who, while speaking from Ernakulam in Kerala informed that the Excise Department has several corroborative evidence to nail the accused Kalangutkar.
“Saneesh informed that there were at least eight dealings between him and Kalangutkar as well as call records to corroborate that the two were indeed communicating with each other for drug dealing,” Francis informed.
The Goa Police have confirmed the developments with North Goa Superintendent of Police Kartik Kashyap informing that a team of excise officials from Kerala had arrived in the state with a warrant for his arrest.
He was arrested with the assistance of the Goa Police and then bundled off to Kerala.
Benny Francis informed that Kalangutkar has been remanded to custody. The Kerala Excise claim that Kalangutkar has international links and that his arrest is a significant blow to the drug supplies in Kerala.
In Goa however, Kalangutkar is not believed to have any previous record of run-ins with the law even the full nature and scope of his operations remains unknown.
The arrest also puts to rest the myth that local Goans are not involved in drug dealing and that the drug trade in the state is promoted by foreigners including Nigerians and Israelis.
