With the political scenario in St Cruz changing colours as days go by, Rudolf Fernandes, one of the strong contenders capable of upsetting the applecart of Babush Monserrate, preferred to keep his cards close to his chest, stating he would decide on taking on Monserrate only after developments actually occur.
OLD GOA
“I will decide on my future course of action only after MLA Tony Fernandes resigns first and also after consulting my supporters,” replied Fernandes, when asked if he would take on Monserrate as and when
the opportunity arises.
When apprised that statements by legislator Tony Fernandes had strongly changed the tide in his favour, and more so, if he contests on a Congress ticket, Fernandes could only say that such a situation should arise first. “Before that, there is no point in commenting on anything,”
he informed.
However, Fernandes was quick to chide the MLA for describing Babush as his ‘boss’.
“The voters are the boss of the MLA and not Babush,” said Fernandes, and added that the people have confided the faith in the MLA and he should put the people first before anybody else.
“Just because any MLA is in opposition, it does not mean that he/she cannot do development in the constituency. If one has the will to fight in the Assembly, one can definitely undertake development works,” he added.
