A group of citizens on late Monday lodged a complaint with the Maina Curtorim police alleging damage caused to a Holy Cross near Rumdamol-Davorlim.
The complaint filed by Rumdamol panchayat member Vinayak Volvoikar and 12 others has alleged that the group of around three boys were seen deliberately trying to uproot and break the Holy Cross in the area.
They said the incident is a grave offence and seems to be an attempt to cause communal tensions and disharmony amongst the residents. Videographic evidence of these actions has been attached for the reference of the police.
Volvoikar and others have requested the police to look into the matter with utmost seriousness, take stern action against these boys and also find out who is involved in instigating them to undertake such actions.
“I feel, that it is this same group of boys who have caused damage to the religious banners and boards, especially those of Shivaji Maharaj, during the past few days, for which I had already registered a complaint a few days back,” Volvoikar stated.
He said such type of actions seem to be a deliberate attempt to cause communal discord and needs to be stopped before the matter goes out of control.
