Sakhali girl dies in accident

A 20-year-old girl from Navelim-Sakhali who was a second year student of Government College Sakhali, died in a road mishap near the Sakhali Primary Health Centre on Saturday at 2.30 pm.

According to Bicholim police, Sangeeta Gurudas Naik, the deceased, was riding pillion on a two wheeler (GA-07-V-7516) which was ridden by Pratham Gaonkar from Guleli-Sattari.

On reaching near the Sakhali PHC Sakhali, Pratham attempted to overtake a private bus and in the process lost his balance and brushed against the bus and lost control of the bike. Sangeeta too lost balance and fell off the bike and onto the road, where she sustained serious injuries.

She was rushed to the Sakhali PHC and was immediately moved to the GMC hospital at Bambolim where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Bicholim HC Harishchandra Parab conducted the inquest and the body has been sent for autopsy.

PANAJI The Goa State Information Commission is gearing up to dispose off matters pending since 2007. The first of such case will be heard on January 18.
