Sancoale Panchayat on Wednesday took up some long-pending development works in Zuarinagar worth Rs 16 lakh, to mark the birthday of panch member and former sarpanch Girish Pillai.
Pillai sponsored a hearse van service for Zuarinagar and launched other development works in the presence of other panch members and people at three different locations of Zuarinagar.
"I sponsored a hearse van for Zuarinagar as I hailed from a poor background in Sancoale and always wanted to help the poor in my area,” said Pillai.
“I have also decided to offer financial aid to disabled children and also offer support to the education of the poor.”
Pillai also said there was a demand to shift high tension lines in Zuarinagar.
"There were high tension lines 33 KV lines in close proximity to habitation. This issue was pending for over four years and we had to wait for approvals from the Directorate of Panchayats as this is a major project. Similarly, people near the Masjid had also requested me to shift low tension wires. Both these works have been launched today," said Pillai.
Pillai said an area of 600 sq. mtrs has been allotted for a temple construction, while the panchayat has also decided to take up drainage works in the area.
