The three-day Saraswat Food and Cultural festival 2025 organised by the Goa Saraswat Samaj was inaugurated at the SPGDA ground, Fatorda on Friday.
The festival was inaugurated at the hands of Margao Municipal councillor Shagun Dada Naik in the presence of Goa Saraswat Samaj president Dr Desh Prabhudesai and citizens.
In his brief address, Shagun Naik said the festival provides an opportunity for members of the community to showcase their talents. “The festival has helped the community to establish links with people of all communities irrespective of caste and creed”, he said.
In his address, Goa Saraswat Samaj President Dr Desh Prabhudesai said the venue of the festival was shifted from the BPS Club, Margao to the SGPDA ground at Fatorda to meet the growing requirements over the years. “Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai had requested the organisers to hold the festival in Fatorda this year. We have respected the call made by the Fatorda MLA by bringing the event to Fatorda. The spacious SGPDA will take care of spacious environment and parking arrangements”, he added.
While saying most of the programs associated with the festival will take place as usual, Desh said two new events have been added to the festivities this time round – separate competitions for senior citizens and the Saraswat Entrepreneurship Challenge program which would help budding entrepreneurs to start their own enterprise.
