Agriculture and horticulture in Sattari taluka have been adversely affected over the past four days due to low voltage in the electricity supply.

According to locals, water pumps used for irrigation are not functioning properly, causing serious difficulties for farmers and disrupting irrigation activities.

Sattari is a predominantly agrarian taluka where farmers depend on water drawn from rivers and wells using electric pumps.

With the onset of peak summer, daily irrigation is essential for crops and orchards. However, due to the low voltage, pumps are unable to operate efficiently or draw sufficient water, putting crops at risk and raising concerns over potential loss of yield.

Farmers have lodged several complaints over the last few days, but the problem remains unresolved. They complained that the exact reason for the voltage fluctuation is still unclear.

A farmer Gopal Gaonkar stated that the ongoing low voltage issue has become a major concern, as improper irrigation is already affecting farms and orchards.

He warned that if the issue is not resolved in the coming days, farmers may face significant financial losses.

Farmers have appealed to the electricity department to take the issue seriously and ensure a stable power supply, especially until the month of May, to prevent damage to crops.

They have also appealed to Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and local MLA Dr Deviya Rane to intervene and ensure that the problem is addressed at the earliest, in the interest of the farming community.
