The Sattari Taluka Farmers’ Service Cooperative Society, which has served farmers for nearly five decades, has recorded significant progress through various farmer-oriented initiatives over the last three years. Society Chairman Sagun Wadkar said the society sold 2,87,525 cashew grafts between 2023 and 2026 under subsidy schemes, generating Rs 69.42 lakh. It also sold 5,664 other saplings worth Rs 9.99 lakh.
The society has promoted organic farming by supplying organic fertilisers. Sales rose sharply from Rs 6.21 lakh in 2024-25 to Rs 89.48 lakh in 2025-26, taking the two-year total to Rs 95.69 lakh. It also introduced cattle-feed sales to support dairy farmers. Feed worth Rs 28.83 lakh was sold over the last two years, with sales rising from Rs 8.51 lakh in 2024-25 to Rs 20.31 lakh in 2025-26.
Vice-Chairman Sayaji Desai said the society’s self-service stores at Valpoi, Thane, Advoi, Keri and Savarshe, operating under the ‘Sattari Bazaar’ initiative, recorded a combined turnover of around Rs 12 crore. Valpoi contributed Rs 9.28 crore, while the other outlets recorded turnovers ranging from Rs 52 lakh to Rs 88.96 lakh.
Director Pandurang Gawas said the society recorded a net profit of Rs 8.71 lakh this year and was working to strengthen its finances. Of Rs 4.32 lakh in outstanding loans from sugarcane growers, Rs 88,000 has been recovered.
Director Adv Ganpat Gaonkar said the society had regained possession of its land at Keri and was considering developing an independent centre there. The society will hold its 47th annual general meeting at Laxmibai Memorial Hall, Valpoi, on September 6.
