MARGAO
Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat said it was shocking to see Chief Minister Pramod Sawant walking with hordes of people after the inauguration of a bridge in his home constituency Sankhali, raising a question if the Chief Minister was at all spreading awareness on social distancing.
Kamat said this has come two days after he had demanded that the Chief Minister Walk the Talk on handling & management of Covid, adding “this is how BJP government responds to concerns raised by opposition party's MLAs in Goa”.
Expressing his shock to see hundreds of people walking on the bridge along with the Chief Minister flouting social distancing norms, Kamat demanded that authorities book all those who violated Section 144 imposed in the State.
“When the Chief Minister himself violates restrictions imposed under Section 144 by his own government, it sends a wrong signal to the public. I appeal to all elected representatives to set examples for others”, he added.
Saying that people are gasping for Oxygen and that concerns are raised on availability of additional oxygen requirement in the days ahead, Kamat said beds in hospitals are full and people are made to run to get medicines, lamenting that the BJP is still in the mode of gala Inaugurations and Celebrations.
“I and the people of Goa expected was Action Plan from the Government on handling and management of Covid pandemic and provide maximum relief to the Goans. Sadly, BJP Government has no sensitivity left to mininise the hardhips of people”, he added.
