BELAGAVI
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has assured to speak to his counterpart, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, regarding technical issues hindering the path of Goan students from seeking admission to engineering and medical colleges in Karnataka.
Sawant was speaking to The Goan en route to the Yellamma Devi temple at Savadatti, about 100 km from Belagavi, after which he attended a private function at Hubballi.
Some parents had earlier told The Goan that some engineering colleges in Belagavi are asking for the compulsion of COMED-K entrance test conducted by Karnataka authorities.
Sawant admitted that he was unaware that Goan students are facing problems in getting admissions in engineering and medical colleges in Karnataka due to restrictions of entrance examinations like COMED-K, etc.
“I will speak to Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai so that the admission process is made convenient for Goan students,” said Sawant.
Asked to comment on Karnataka's determined attempts to implement the Kalsa-Bhandura water diversion project, Sawant declined to comment much as the issue is in court and only said that his government is also extremely serious about the Kalsa-Bhandura water diversion issue.
To another query on the Covid situation in Goa, Sawant said his government has taken control of the Covid spread in his state.
“My government was focused on extensive testing of people at all levels, especially in all health centres across Goa. All symptomatic patients are being monitored through a Central War Room of Goa and SOPs are being followed strictly,” Sawant said.
