MARGAO
Members of the Goa Pradesh Youth Congress on Tuesday took out a silent candle light procession at the Margao Municipal garden to express their solidarity with the martyrs of the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir and to demand a Supreme Court monitored probe into the Pulwama terror attack in the light of then governor Satyapal Malik’s recent statement on the incident.
Ex-GPCC Chief Girish Chodankar, Congress leader Pradip Naik along with Goa Pradesh Youth Congress Chief Joel Andrade joined the workers in the candle light procession on Tuesday evening.
Addressing the media, Girish said the youth Congress has come to show their solidarity with the families of the five Jawans, who lost their lives in the terror attack in Kashmir. He said the youth Congress has come to demand justice to the 40 CRPF jawans who were martyred in Pulwama four years ago against the backdrop of recent statements made by then governor Satyapal Malik that the attack took place because of intelligence failure.
“The Congress and the opposition is not here to do politics over the death of the security personnel. But in the light of Satyapal Malik’s statement that he was told to remain silent over the intelligence failure demands a thorough probe monitored by the supreme Court”, he said.
Girish said the security personnel are protecting the citizens and the country from external aggression and no one have the right to sacrifice their lives for electoral gains.
“Our jawans should not loose their lives because of the reasons cited by then Governor Satyapal Malik, who was appointed the governor of Kashmir by the BJP-led NDA government. We support the demand made in several quarters for a detailed problem into the Pulwama terror attack,” he said.
