Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said every school classroom will be converted into virtual classrooms this year.
“We are coming out with a scheme of virtual classrooms in every school. We have already asked for funds from the central government. Every classroom in the school will have a virtual teaching facility,” said Sawant while speaking at the launching of VII regular revised information Communication Technology (ICT) curriculum organised by Directorate of Technical Education.
“With virtual classroom facilities, the best teachers can virtually teach each and every student in the State from one classroom in the Directorate of Education. Expert teachers at a time can guide all students in all schools,” he said.
The chief minister said 470-plus computer teachers have been trained by the government in coding and robotics.
Speaking about the syllabus, Chief Minister said with the training, the computational thinking has improved.
“The syllabus is so nice that in the future the rest of the country may use this book for coding. With the Coding and Robotics scheme in 5 years, we will be the leading State in India,” said Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, Sawant gave information about the Vidya Samiksha Kendra, a system of tracking the student’s performance from Std 1 to Std 12 through a centre from the Directorate of Education.
“The DoE will monitor what students are learning and what teachers are teaching them from government and aided schools,” said Sawant.
‘Cyberage scheme closed as it has more side effects’
PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the Cyberage scheme was discontinued as it was found to have had more side effects than good effects.
“We have decided to close the scheme after giving a good thought. When we closed the Cyberage scheme, we faced huge criticism. We made a study of the performance of the Cyberage scheme. Laptops and tabs were given to students and many students were not aware where the tab was,” said Sawant.
The Chief Minister said teachers and industry people have designed this curriculum adding that the CMO office is monitoring this programme. “Computing coding for the first time is provided free of cost by the government spending Rs 15 crore,” said Sawant.
“In the next 15 days, all schools will be given computing devices if the work order is given,” he added.
