Self-enumeration drive to kick-off Census in State

PANAJI

Residents of Goa can submit their household details online for Census 2027 from November 16 to 30, with the Directorate of Census Operations, Goa, launching a 15-day self-enumeration facility ahead of the population enumeration exercise scheduled from December 1 to January 4, 2027.

Under the self-enumeration facility, residents can provide their household information online through the designated portal, se.census.gov.in, at their convenience during the 15-day window. Upon successful submission, they will receive a unique 11-digit Self-Enumeration Identification (SE ID), which must be kept safely and shared with the census enumerator during the subsequent house-to-house visit.

The self-enumeration process involves logging into the portal, selecting Goa as the State/Union Territory, choosing a preferred language and verifying the mobile number through a one-time password (OTP). Residents will then have to verify their household location, enter the required details and complete the questionnaire before reviewing and submitting the information.

The portal will require residents to provide details covering basic household information, demographic characteristics, social background, language and education, economic activity, migration, fertility and other particulars.

Directorate said that the population enumeration phase will begin on December 1 and continue until January 4, 2027, during which census enumerators will visit households across the State.

"Residents who have completed self-enumeration must provide their SE ID to the enumerator for validation. If the submitted details do not match during verification, the enumerator will collect the information afresh," official said.

The census questionnaire will cover 40 questions, including name, relationship to the household head, sex, date of birth, marital status, nationality, religion, caste, disability, mother tongue, literacy, education, occupation, migration history and fertility-related information.

The Directorate has emphasised that providing census information is mandatory under Section 8(2) of the Census Act, 1948. At the same time, individual information is protected under Section 15 of the Act and is kept confidential for statistical purposes.

The self-enumeration facility is intended to enable residents to submit their household information digitally before the physical enumeration exercise begins.
