Separate queue for 'orphans' in compassionate appointments

The State cabinet has approved an amendment to the Compassionate Appointment Scheme which will give priority to orphan children seeking government employment.

The priority list currently has around 800 applicants. Earlier, the government had amended the scheme to prioritise family members of employees who died while on duty. Now with Thursday's amendment, those orphaned will also have a priority queue.
