Ahead of the Dussehra festival on Friday, beach shacks have started their operations in right earnest along the Salcete beach belt.

In fact, shack owners are looking forward for a good season, beginning today (15 October), hoping that Dussehra festivities will ring in good news for the tourism industry.

A number of shacks have come up at the iconic Colva beach as well as the Cavelossom-Mobor beach belt, considered the hub of starred resorts.

Shack owners pointed out that around 40 per cent of the shack operators have put up the structures and started the business operations.

President of Goa Shack Owners Society Cruz Cardozo told The Goan that shack business had started on the Salcete beach belt on October 7, adding that around 40 per cent of the shacks are dotting the coastal line in Salcete.

He pointed out that from information gathered it suggests that domestic tourists have arrived in the state and he hoped that the shack business will pick up from Dusshera day. “We look forward for a good season this year after the previous season was marred by the Covid pandemic”, he said.

Cardozo said the arrival of the charter flights will further give a boost to the tourism in the State, hoping that the shack business will also benefit from the charters.
