Shet instructs PWD to ensure adequate water supply

Speaker Anant Shet has instructed the PWD officials to sort out the problem of frequent water shortage in Bicholim, Sakhali and Mayem constituencies.
Shet had recently convened a special meeting with the PWD officials following complaints from the villagers from Bicholim, Mayem, Sakhali, Chorao, Narvem and Pilgao about acute water shortage. The meeting was attended by chief engineer Uttam Parsekar and other engineers.
During the meeting, Shet instructed the officials to find the exact cause of water shortage and undertake instant remedial measures to solve the problem. He also instructed the officials to check the state of affairs of generator and water treatment plant in respective areas and to undertake remedial measures to repair it at the earliest.
Following instructions from Shet, chief engineer Parsekar immediately directed the junior officials to find the reasons of water shortage and submit him the report within a week.
Later, Shet visited the water treatment plant at Padocem-Sattari and found that the machinery was corroded and three lift irrigation pumps have been out of order. He said he has put forward a proposal to purchase new machinery, pumps and generator at the cost of Rs 2 crore.
