OLD GOA
A shop caught fire at Dhauji-Old Goa on Saturday night, damaging a refrigerator, LPG cylinder, counter and other items in the incident.
According to sources at the Old Goa fire station, a passerby first noticed the fire and immediately informed about the incident to the fire brigade. “The Old Goa fire station was notified about the incident and immediately a fire tender headed by duty officer Amit Rivonkar rushed to the site and helped in extinguishing the fire along with his personnel,” the sources stated and added that a refrigerator, a LPG cylinder, counter and other items were damaged in the incident.
Incidentally, the owner of the shop did not turn up even as the fire personnel were unable to determine the exact cause of the fire. As a precautionary measure, the fire personnel had to take away the leaking LPG cylinder which was badly damaged to prevent the fire from further re-igniting.
Though the exact loss was not estimated, sources informed that it could be in the range of Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000.
