Collector orders disclosure of claims and objections

Initiating steps aimed at ensuring transparency, inclusiveness and accuracy in the preparation of the electoral rolls, the South Goa District Electoral Officer has instructed all Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to hand over weekly lists of Claims and Objections to the representatives of recognised political parties.
The DEO and District Collector Egna Cleetus has said the measures have been initiated in order to ensure transparency and active participation in the revision process.
In continuation to the instructions issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI) vide letter No. 23/2025-ERS (Vol. II) dated 27th October 2025, detailed guidelines have been issued for the conduct of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls with reference to 01.01.2026 as the qualifying date.
The period for Claims and Objections is presently underway and hearings are being scheduled at the duly notified hearing venues across the respective Assembly constituencies. “As part of this process, all Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) have been instructed to hand over weekly lists of Claims and Objections to the representatives of recognised political parties, in order to ensure transparency and active participation in the revision process,” the Collector stated.
As part of the process, the Collector has issued the following measures for strict implementation in compliance to the guidelines of ECI: The weekly lists of Claims and Objections are being shared with political parties and acknowledgements are being obtained.
Secondly, photographic evidence of the sharing of lists with political parties is being maintained.
“All related documents, including the weekly lists of Claims and Objections, acknowledgement copies and photographs are being uploaded Assembly constituency-wise and published on the South Goa Collector’s website,” the Collector stated.
