Ports Minister Digambar Kamat on Tuesday said the Captain of Ports has identified a site for a proposed floating jetty at Betul following a request from the local fishing community.

“The Captain of Ports has inspected the area and identified a suitable location for the floating jetty. The matter will now move to the next stage,” Kamat said.

Kamat, who also holds the PWD portfolio, said the department is ready to construct a training wall at the mouth of the River Sal to ensure smooth navigation if assigned the project by the government.

He said there is currently no proposal before the PWD for the project. “If the government asks the PWD to take it up, we will give serious thought to executing it,” he said.
